 Students must come prepared. After making your appointment by phone, please print, complete and bring the attached Audition Form with you to the audition. Students must arrive 10 minutes prior to their audition and check in.
New students: All new students must schedule an audition time. Auditions are held at the end of the season in May. Audition requirements follow. Audition fees are $30 and are non-refundable if you do not get accepted into the orchestra.
Returning students: All members of the symphony orchestra and dolce musica must re-audition at the end of each season. This is an important part of the students’ experience as it allows the teachers to focus on the individual players and give positive feedback and assess each student’s progress. It is the responsibility of each student to book his or her own audition. Auditions are held at the end of the season in May. Sign up will be via e-mail and times will be confirmed via e-mail as well. There are no audition fees for returning students.
Westmount String Ensemble: The students will be asked to play a short piece of music of their choice, and will be asked to sight-read for Jean MacRae.
Ensemble Dolce Musica: Students are asked to play a 2 or 3-octave scale of their choice, a 5- minute piece or excerpt and will be asked to sight-read.
Westmount Symphony Orchestra: Students are asked to play a 3-octave scale of their choice (2 octaves for winds), a 5–minute piece or excerpt, and will be asked to sight-read. |
