Responsibility: All musicians and parents are responsible for regularly checking personal e-mail for messages and announcements from the Orchestra Administrator or conductors. You are responsible for ensuring that we have your correct e-mail address at all times and that you are receiving our messages. The WYO relies on e-mail/web communications to convey information.
Courtesy: All musicians of the WYO are expected to behave respectfully and kindly toward one another, the conductors, staff, board members, and the public. This expectation extends to all rehearsals, performances, and other WYO activities and communications, written or verbal. Except during designated breaks, members are expected to stay seated for the duration of the rehearsal. Leaving during a rehearsal is disruptive and must be avoided.
Attention: Members are expected to focus their full attention on orchestra work during rehearsals. Socializing, eating, doing homework, use of cell phones or other electronic devices, and all other non-musical tasks, are prohibited during rehearsals.
Respect for property: All members must treat rehearsal and performance venues with respect; rooms must be left as neat as they were found; each musician should be courteous to the audience and to others when in a public rehearsal or performance venue; musicians should not be running or shouting in lobbies, on stairs, and in other public areas and musicians are expected to take proper care of all WYO music and equipment.
Rehearsal breaks: Be aware that many others use most of the facilities used by the WYO as well. WYO musicians must be mindful of, and courteous toward, patrons attending other activities or working at any facilities at which we are present. During concert performances, musicians will be instructed on appropriate locations for congregating during breaks and intermissions.
Personal Conduct: Orchestra members who willfully or consistently demonstrate disruptive or disrespectful behavior or failure to comply with any part of WYO guidelines/policies will be subject to disciplinary action at the discretion of the Conductor. In the unlikely event that problems persist, the Conductor, Orchestra Administrator, or a member of the Board of Directors will contact the parents in an attempt to resolve the problem. Unsatisfactory attendance or misconduct is cause for suspension or dismissal from the WYO. If dismissed, neither tuition reimbursement nor reinstatement of membership will be allowed.
