City of Westmount

The city of Westmount provides the orchestra a great deal of support in the nature of allowing the orchestra use of Victoria Hall on weekends and other times as needed. In return, the WYO has consistently participated in Westmount community events by playing at the Westmount Flower Show. The WYO offers the community four symphony orchestra concerts each year at Victoria Hall and Pollack Hall, Dolce Musica two concerts at Redpath Hall at McGill and the String Ensemble performs their end of term concerts at Victoria Hall.

McGill

Founded in 1904 as the McGill Conservatorium, the McGill Conservatory is proud of its long and established history of providing quality musical education to both the McGill University and Montreal communities. The McGill Conservatory, Community Program of the Schulich School of Music of McGill University, has a mandate, which is strongly involved with community outreach in music education for all ages and abilities.

In 2006, the WYO entered into a partnership with the McGill Conservatory, opening the door to collaboration among with the Conservatory’s many ensembles and the orchestra. All members of the Westmount Youth Orchestra’s three ensembles are members of the Conservatory; the annual Concerto Competition is a joint event admitting players of all ages.
